About MacPicasso YUV Accelerator
The QuickTime YUV-Acceleration is designed to accelerate Cinepak Movies on the MP 850, MP 750, MacMagic Pro, MP 540, MP 523 and MP 340 graphic card. It is, by now, a PPC only Program, which run either on PCI and Nubus Computers. Only Hi-Color and True-Color Movies are accelerated, no 256 Color or Monocrom Stuff. The Accelerator works on all installed MP 850, MP 750, MacMagic Pro, MP 540, MP 523 and MP 340 cards. You can move the Video-Window from one MacPicasso-Screen to an other. During the Startup-Process for every found Graphics-Card an Icon is drawn on the Screen. If something is wrong during Startup, a red crossed Icon is drawn (e.g. if no MP 850, MP 750, MacMagic Pro, MP 540, MP 523 or MP 340 is installed).
What do do with the Component ?
The Component has to be placed in the Extensions-Folder within the System-Folder on your Startup-Disk. On System 7 or later you have only to drop it on the System-Folder. The Finder moves it to the right place. There should only be one Version of the accelerator in the Systemfolder (some older Versions carry their Versionnumber in the Filename).
What to avoid, to get the Acceleration run properly
- 1 Bit Colordepth of the Screen (Black & White or Monocrom Setting).
- Auto Panning Modes, e.g. 1152x1740 (The Component refuses acceleration)
- Resolutions that are to big, because the required Bandwith is to high:
- no restriction on MP 750/850/MacMagic Pro
- lower then 1600x1200 with 75 Hz on a MP 540
- lower than 1280x1024 with 75 Hz on a MP 523
- Shrinking the Video-Window smaller then
- 1/4 Original Size for MP 750/850/MacMagic Pro
- 1/2 Original Size in Horizontal on MP 540
- Original Size in Double-Clocking-Modes on MP 523
- Horizontal shrinking in a resolution of 1280x1024 in 85 Hz and 1600x1200 on a MP 540 or MP 523.
- Covering the upper left Corner of the Video-Window with another Window and then switch from 256 Colors to 256 Gray or reverse.
- Clicking a Window, which is in the Background partially behind the Video-Window and draging it away without releasing the Mousebutton once (You can remove the “Holes” in the Movie by moving or resizing the Window a bit)..
- Display the Movie whith the Window completly on one Screen. Positioning the Window partialy out of the Screen is only allowed, if in this Direction is no other Screen (if you have multiple Screens connected)
- Don´t change the Gamma-Correction Settings in the “Monitors & Sound” or “Monitors & Picasso” Control Pannel, if a Movie is running. If you do so, you have to move or resize the Video-Window on time, to get back the correct Colors (in Hi-Color Mode only )
- If you move the Movie-Window partialy on two Screens, the acceleration is stopped and can only be started again, if you close the Movie and load it again (sorry, but this is a Problem of the QuickTime-Extension).
- Screen-Mirroring is not allowed, during Accelerated Video play.
